Into The Future

The Student Union and Student Success Center will be a 360,000-square-foot facility that will more than double the current Student Union’s capacity. It is expected to be completed in late 2026.

On its academic side, the building will feature classrooms, a 400-seat lecture hall, spaces for the Office of Undergraduate Education, the Student Success Center, the Hobson Wildenthal Honors College, the Center for Teaching and Learning, and Educational Technology Services. For the Student Union, the building will offer:

  • 235,000 square feet of student engagement space
  • 12,500 square-foot ballroom, which can accommodate at least 800 people
  • New retail dining concepts
  • At least 10 reservable meeting rooms
  • Group study rooms
  • Creativity lab
  • Dedicated practice space for dance & spirit groups
  • Lounge seating inside & outside the facility

Now open, Comets LANding is UT Dallas’ state-of-the-art gaming and esports center. At 16,000 square feet, the two-story center is the largest collegiate gaming facility of its kind in the United States. Designed to bring student gamers together for casual and competitive play, Comets LANding will host collegiate and high school esports tournaments, numerous student events, camps, conferences and academic programs.

The center features more than 70 PC gaming stations, multiple console gaming areas, a large multipurpose event space, competitive team rooms, broadcast and production spaces, and a Buffalo Wild Wings. The $15 million facility can support more than 500 guests and provides programming opportunities year-round. Comets LANding is located at the heart of the UT Dallas campus, with signage facing the university’s two most trafficked pedestrian arteries.
