Since joining the competitive ranks in 2018, UT Dallas has quickly established itself as one of the country’s biggest names in collegiate esports.
Our varsity esports teams here at UT Dallas consist of Overwatch 2, League of Legends, Rocket League, Valorant and Smash Ultimate.

Gaming Facilities
The Student Union is home to the UT Dallas esports teams, as well as the Sector 7 Energy Esports Gaming Arena.
The arena (SU 2.504) features:
- 25 state-of-the-art gaming computers for our players.
- 4 HD TVs for VOD review, livestreams and events.
- Custom RGB lighting, adjusting to the room’s current usage.
Reservations
The esports arena and practice room is reserved and operated by the esports and gaming department at UT Dallas. UTD departments or organizations interested in reserving the space should contact the esports program staff.
SSA Gaming Wall
The Student Affairs Gaming Wall inside the SSA is a popular spot for playing games with friends. This entertainment unit is accessible to students during regular SSA building hours under the supervision of building staff.
Controllers
XBOX XS and PS5 controllers are available for checkout with a valid Comet Card from the SSA Welcome Desk or the Games Desk located at the Gaming Wall.

Into The Future
A new state-of-the-art facility opens in fall 2024.
Building upon the rapid expansion of the esports industry and the phenomenal success of the university’s competitive esports program, a new gaming and esports center will open in fall 2024.
Introducing: Comets LANding
The Pub, inside the existing Student Union, will be renovated into a state-of-the-art esports and gaming area. The new area was recently named Comets LANding.
Features of the new area:
- Two floors, encompassing 15,000 square feet of space.
- Open to all students, regardless of skill level.
- More than 50 stations for PC gaming.
- Console gaming pods.
- Competitive esports arena with spectator seating.
- New dining concept with dedicated seating area.
- Ability to host multiple esports tournaments.
- Space to host programs like comedy nights, open mic nights, poetry slams and karaoke.
